Drays Mound ...
Just north of Kalama, Washington and located within the floodplain of the Kalama River is a funny little feature called "Drays Mound". Located at Columbia River Mile (RM) 72, Drays Mound lies about 3/4 mile inland from the river, across from Prescott Beach. Construction of Interstate 5 shaved off one side and now the southbound lanes pass along its base. On its west side the Burlington Northern Sante Fe tracks hug the base. The U.S. Board of Geographic Names calls Drays Mound a "summit" and lists its elevation as 157 feet. Drays Mound is best viewed by heading north on Interstate 5.

Early Drays Mound ...
Drays Mound is located in the southwest quarter of T7N R1W Sec31. According to The Bureau of Land Management's General Land Office Records, a Calvin H. Dray and Mary A. Dray gained title to 322.64 acres on December 22, 1865 (Oregon Donation Act) in that township/range and section. Also on December 22, 1865, a Joseph Dray and Elizabeth Dray gained title to 317.26 acres in that same township/range and section. Joseph Dray also had title on 74 acres in T7N R2W, Section 36.
