"Scappoose Bottoms, Scappoose, Oregon ... February 4, 2012"

The Trip:    Bright sunny cold morning, a bit breezy, and warming nicely into afternoon ... went and drove the Scappoose Bottoms looking for Golden Eagles ... no luck ... saw only one Bald Eagle flying high ... no Rough-legged Hawk either ... however LOTS nad LOTS of Red-tails !!!!!!!!!!! ... including the beautiful rufous-morphed guy ... best find of the day was a "Common Teal" mixed in with the Green-winged Teal at a corner pond. The Locale:    Sauvie Island is nearly 17 miles long and 7 miles wide and is located in the Columbia River northwest of Portland, Oregon. Scappoose Bottoms is the lowland south of Sauvie Island around the community of Scappoose. The Multnomah Channel separates the two.
