The Trip:
Beautiful gorgeous summer day, bright sun, LOTS of wind however blowing mist around ... the camera lens kept getting coated with mist and the wind was blowing the camera around ... went looking for the Pigeon Guillemot and we found them feeding on the south side of the rock ... Black Oystercatcher were there too ... found a NEW PHOTO bird - two Harlequin Duck females (or youngsters) ... the Pelagic Cormorants, Tufted Puffins, and Common Murre were there but not as plentiful as in June, and didn't see any Puffins landing on shore side of the Rock ... the Western Gull chicks were very cute ...
Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, Oregon:
Haystack Rock is a large 235-feet-high basalt sea stack located at Cannon Beach, Oregon. It is protected as a sanctuary for birds and marine creatures. Tufted Puffins, Pigeon Guillemots, Pelagic Cormorants, and a variety of Gulls nest on the rock. Immediately to the south of Haystack Rock likes the two "Needles".
At Ecola Point we saw Gulls, Brown Pelicans, Common Murre, Brandt's Cormorants (a NEW PHOTO BIRD), American Crows, and had an inquistive White-crowned Sparrow. Ecola Point is located on the south side of Ecola State Park on Tillamook Head.
