Vaux's Swift:
Vaux's Swifts are named for William S. Vaux (1811-1882), a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences and a friend of John K. Townsend, who first described the species. William Vaux himself was a minerologist. The name is pronounced "vawks," not "voh."
