Swainson's Thrush:
The Swainson's Thrush (Catharus ustulatus) was named by Thomas Nuttall after the English ornithologist William Swainson. William Swainson named and described more than 20 species of North American birds including the American Scoter, now called the Black Scoter and the Bullock's Oriole. Swainson's most important contribution to the knowledge of North American birds was the publishing of the four volume Fauna Boreali-Americana.
Also named after Swainson are the
with the Swainson's Hawk (named by Charles Bonaparte in 1838) and the Swainson's Warbler (named by James Audubon in 1834).
The Swainson's Thrush has also been called the Olive-backed Thrush.
