"Red-shouldered Hawk"

Red-shouldered Hawk:    John James Audubon, in his 1840 publication The Birds of North American (vol.1), calls the Red-shouldered Hawk the "Red-shouldered Buzzard" as well as "Red-shouldered Hawk". A few early naturalists called this hawk the "Winter Hawk" while others had the "Winter Hawk" and the "Red-shouldered Hawk" listed as two separate species (i.e., Wilson, 1828, "American Ornithology", vol.1).
