Osprey:
The Osprey (Pandion haliaeetus) is often called the "Fish Hawk", "Fish Eagle", or "Eagle Hawk". "Pandion" was the name of a mythical king of Athens. "Haliaeetus" is from the Greek "hals" or "halos", meaning "sea", and "aetos" or "aetus", meaning "eagle". The name "Osprey" came from two possibilities. Some researchers think the name is derived from "ospreit", an Old French word dervived from the Latin "avis praedae" meaning "bird of prey". Other researchers think the name is from Latin "ossifragus" meaning "bone breaker". The Osprey is the only member of the genus Pandion, and split from the rest of the Accipitridae raptors around 24-30 million years ago.
