Harlequin Duck:
The Harlequin Duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) takes its name from Harlequin, a colorfully dressed character with a painted face in Commedia dell'arte. The scientific name comes from the Latin word "histrio", meaning "actor". It is also called the "Sea Mouse" because of its very unducklike squeaks. Other names include "Circus Duck" or "Painted Duck" for its beautiful colors.
The Harlequin Duck is classified as a sea duck, yet the birds breed inland.
